7 Types Of Pranayama Breathing Exercise

The term Pranayama originates from Sanskrit words “Pran”, which means “Breath”, and “Ayama”, which means “control”. Pranayama is one of the most important parts of yoga and is a complete breathing exercise. Pranayama heals our internal parts of the body and helps with stress and depression if practised regularly.

There are seven pranayama breathing techniques, where breath plays the most important role. To complete the whole seven pranayama breathing techniques it takes around 35 to 45 minutes, and that is enough to become fit and healthy. This extraordinary exercise can help to prevent cancer, blood pressure, stomach disorders, diabetes, anxiety, depression, heart problems and many other health disorders and issues.

The best time to do pranayama breathing exercise is in the morning and after a bath, when you are fresh and relaxed. Pranayama is considered to be a relaxation technique and method, too. When practised, one should sit straight and wear loose and comfortable clothes.

1. Bhastrika Pranayama

  • It helps with blood circulation, heart and lung problems, infections, asthma, headaches, migraines, depression, poor concentration and provides relaxation to the body and mind.

2. Kapalbhati Pranayama

  • Helps with stomach disorders, such as indigestion or constipation, heart issues, weight around the belly and acidity in the stomach.

3. Bahya Pranayama

  • Helps with stomach disorders, hernia, problems with prostate, reproductive organs, diabetes and urine related problems.

4. Anulom Vilom Pranayama

  • Helps with blood circulation, heart, lung and neurological problems, depression, headaches, migraines, gastric problems, hypertension, poor concentration, glowing skin, and arteries.

5. Bhramari Pranayama

  • It helps with sinuses, hypertension, high blood pressure, stability, nervous system, pregnancy, tension, anxiety, and anger.

6. Udgeeth Pranayama

  • It calms mind and body, relieves anger, anxiety, and tension, helps with hypertension, insomnia, high blood pressure, nervous system, acidity and poor memory.

7. Pranav Pranayama
