Kirtan

(pronounced keer-tarn)

It’s impossible to think about nothing. Meditation may sound appealing – a way to escape, but do you find that the mind is too wild? This is normal.

Sound is something we can easily focus on as sound affects us on an energetic and cellular level.

Naturally, vibrations that come into contact with stronger vibrations align to them. Even individuals resonate at different frequencies. Ever noticed that when you encounter someone who is down – you feel down? When you encounter someone who is excited – you feel excited? So, if this happens with vibrations that you don’t even hear, imagine the power of a real live sound experience!

Experiment this shift through an ancient practice from the yoga tradition called kirtan. This style of music is created by traditional Indian instruments such as the harmonium, mridanga drum and karatals (hand cymbals) and accompanied by basic sanskrit that will allow you to experience a naturally blissful state. It’s guaranteed to make you feel happier! With not much effort our minds can truly release, feeling uplifted, rejuvenated and ultimately peaceful.

There is no requirement for a good singing voice, nor the ability to play an instrument. You can join in or just listen. Relax amongst candles, cushions, luscious scents and friendly company. These low key afternoons are open for everyone. Come alone or bring friends!
